Our Staff

Robert R. Wood Attorney at Law	R Robert Wood Tax Service Inc. has been proudly associated with Kempner Wealth Management for the past 12 years. Robert has been providing professional tax preparation, and financial planning advice for hundreds of loyal clients. Robert is an Attorney, licensed to practice law in California. He has been a member of the California Bar Association since 1985. His education is extensive, receiving his AA Degree from East Los Angeles College, his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Redlands, and his Juris Doctorate from Pacific Coast University School of Law. Robert is also a Real Estate Broker. A graduate of Academy Class #131, Robert proudly served as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy. Retired, he is a 31 year veteran. He worked Norwalk and Pico Rivera Stations, and was one of the first detectives assigned to Lynwood Station when the Sheriff’s Department took over Lynwood PD. His last assignment was at the Mira Loma Detention Center where he retired as a Sergeant. He is married and has 5 children and two grandchildren. When he is not furthering his education, Robert loves to travel with his family.
Shawna Nelson Certified Tax Preparer	Shawna has been with Robert Wood Tax Service and Kempner Wealth Management since 2007. She is the proud “eldest” daughter of Robert Wood. Shawna retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after 26 years of service. She worked as a Captain’s Secretary at Firestone Station, graduated from Academy Class 225, worked patrol at Carson Station, and retired from MLDC as a Sergeant in 2006. She is married to Patrick Nelson and they have one son, Jake (see below). Shawna is a Registered Tax Preparer and has both prepared and assisted Robert with over 1600 returns, thus gaining valuable hands-on experience and knowledge. You will find that Shawna is definitely a “people person”. You can always count on her to help you with your needs. In her free time, Shawna enjoys hunting, fishing, and helping in her community with charitable events.
Jake Nelson Office Assistant/Technology Director	Jacob Nelson has been with Robert Wood Tax Service since 2006. Jake now attends Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils) where he is majoring in Air Management with a concentration in Flight. He is the National Communications Director for the Polytechnic Campus. Due to the miracles of technology, Jake will continue his role as Office Assistant, helping to make appointments and communicating with clients, along with ensuring our technical operations run at maximum efficiency.
